The first day of the Georgian Defence and Security Conference closed with the fourth panel. Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze participated in the discussions on NATO and post-ISAF mission. Minister of Defence of Estonia Sven Mikser, Vice-Minister of National Defence of Lithuania Marijus Velička and former Director General NATO IMS LtGen Jürgen Bornemann also were the speakers of the fourth panel “Post-ISAF NATO: Maintaining Capabilities and Interoperability”. Deputy Chief, Security Assistant Office of U.S. Defence Representative-Pakistan Robert Hamilton was a moderator of the panel. “We discussed the activities to maintain combat readiness and interoperability of the existing skills in NATO partner countries and their armed forces after ISAF mission. We emphasized important changes ongoing in the world that increase threats. We also focused on the necessity to prepare NATO and its partner countries against new threats. The future activities for supporting NATO partner countries were also underlined during the panel discussions”, outlined major General Vakhtang Kapanadze after the fourth panel of GDSC.
